'Robert on "Untold Stories"'
On May 30th, I was a guest lecturer at the 11th Annual Pedagogy & Theatre of the Oppressed International Conference at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel. The subject of this three day conference was "Creative Tools for Critical Times: Amnesia, Witness, Intervention." I was assigned to address the aesthetics and politics of witnessing. Throughout the two hour lecture and Q&A session, I discussed the importance of sharing untold stories and explained my role in revealing these stories to the public as a documentary filmmaker. The video blog today is a short segment from the lecture in which I talk about the untold stories addressed in "Uncovered: The War on Iraq."

'Robert's Liberty Hill acceptance speech'
We plan to use more and more video on the blog, here is an excerpt from the liberty hill evening. Lissette Roldan and Jim Gilliam choose the most relevant parts that relate to the larger questions progressives are discussing. The opportunity to think about some of these issues is right now, before we get back into election battle mode. I think some of these questions are in fact critical to ultimately winning, because it becomes clearer to me, that we don't win without some longer term way to re-frame, re-focus and raise the issues that are the life blood of progressives.

'The People Speak: Nurses'
The man who was going to "terminate" the special interests is breaking records in raising money from special interests! Including nearly half a million dollars from Fox News Channel parent company News Corp USA. $26 million in 2004, and he's already vowed to raise $50 million for his special election ballot initiatives.
Larry Noble, executive director of the Center for Responsive Politics: "It's masterful. One of the things Arnold Schwarzenegger has done very well is to declare everybody else's big donors as special interests and his as interested in good government."
Who does Schwarzenegger consider a special interest? NURSES! Yes. He's going to "kick their butts."
The California Nurses Association is airing this ad throughout California.

'Progressive Majority'
For many years I have not gotten involved in electoral politics, because I found the disconnect between progressives, issues and the elected officials too great a divide.
When I met Bob Borosage and Gloria Totten and they told me about Progressive Majority, I did a complete turn-around! Here were people with a long term and firm commitment to progressive values and a smart plan to get people elected.
I signed on to help and this video which Richard Perez produced and Chris Gordon edited is part of my commitment to them.
